Mozy 1.4.3 Release Fixes Time Machine / Time Capsule Bug

Mozy, the online web backup company, has released version 1.4.3 of it’s
software in a hurried attempt to fix a bug that prevented Apple Time
Machine users from backing up to their Time Capsules.

Following an earlier release of a Mozy update some users of the Apple
Time Machine / Time Capsule combo started to experience problems.  On
the 13th August a statement on the Mozy website brought the fix that
users we waiting for.

Devin Knighton, representing the company, said:  “Earlier this week a bug was discovered in our 1.4.1 Mac release that
affected our customers who were using Time Machine with Time Capsule or
Time Machine with a network share of another Mac.”

It is though that the bug affected the ability of Time Machine to mount
the Time Capsule drive and was caused by a backup process running in
the Mozy software.  Frustrated users posted on the company’s blog with
accusations that the company was slow to notify it’s users of the
problem with it’s online backup application.

Berkeley Data Systems, providers of Mozy online backup was acquired by
EMC Corporation in October 2007.  Their web backup products are
available for home and business use and compete against similar
services from Carbonite and BackBlaze.
