Atlanta based Nomadesk has announced it’s entry in to the US web backup market. Their software goes some way beyond simple online backup offered by others such as Carbonite, BackBlaze or Mozy by offering multi-user filesharing.

The Nomadesk system allows team based collaboration by simulating an off-site network file server. Teams can store, synchronize and share files securely from alomst any digtal platform including PC, Mac and even the iPhone.

Targeted at both SMB and home users the nomadesk platform offers businesses unlimited data backup for $15 USD per file server per month and no restriction on the number of users. Home users get a flat rate of $50 USD per year with many of the same benefits. Both services are subject to a fair use policy.

The sharing and sycronization features of the backup software keep both the local copy and the online copy updated so your files can be used both online and offline. Users can simply drag and drop files to the file server and the nomadesk system integrates seemlesly with windows explorer and the finder applciation on Mac OS X.

All of the usual security features are incorporated including the encryption of data for both transfer and storage and the Nomadesk TheftGuard system allows the fileserver to be deleted remotely if a laptop or desktop are stolen.

This latest edition to the cloud computing arena will, no doubt, have the competition scrambling to make their web backup software more feature rich as the competition continues to hot up in this sector.

Nomadesk are offering a free 30 day trial to both home users and SMB.
